Federal Pension Calculator

Estimate your federal retirement pension based on your retirement system, years of service, and salary history.

Step 1 — Your Retirement System

Select the retirement system that applies to you. This determines how your pension is calculated.

Step 2 — Personal Information
Months beyond full years
If entered, we'll calculate your creditable service from your SCD to your retirement date.
Step 3 — High-3 Average Salary
I know my High-3 Average Salary
Your average base salary over your highest 3 consecutive years.
Step 4 — Military Service
I served in the military
I have bought back my military time
Your military time will be added to your creditable federal service for pension calculation purposes.
Your results will show two scenarios: your pension with and without military buyback, so you can see what it's worth. To understand the cost of buying back your military time, visit our Military Buyback Calculator.

This calculator provides estimates for educational purposes only. Actual pension amounts are determined by your agency and OPM at retirement. High-3 estimates using base pay assume a 2% annual increase and may differ from your actual salary history. CSRS Offset amounts do not reflect the Social Security offset that applies at age 62. Special category multipliers apply to Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, and Air Traffic Controllers. VERA/RIF calculations assume the employee meets the minimum age and service requirements for early retirement. Consult a licensed federal retirement specialist before making retirement decisions.
